Each year seems to offer new challenges and heartwarming accomplishments. From
helping to keep our Recycle Center open, honoring youth and individuals for outstanding service, to forming a mentoring collaborative
and starting a Lunch Buddy Mentoring program, these endeavors have helped to build a stronger and caring community. Listed
below is a sample of our 2006 accomplishments.
SERVING OTSEGO COUNTY IN 2006
The Katie Krug Foundation and Volunteer Center of Otsego County each awarded a
$500 Youth Volunteerism Scholarship to high school seniors.
1,035 volunteers contributed over 19,800 hours of service to our community among
65 nonprofit agencies.
120 families consisting of 246 children were adopted through our
Holiday Adopt-a-Family Program.
76 volunteer drivers transported 32 patients to 440 life-saving radiation treatments
through our Otsego County Road to Recovery Program.
771 Blue Ribbons were awarded during National Volunteer Week
to volunteers working with 21 area agencies.
6,502 items were donated for those in need with 18 nonprofit agencies collaborating in local Make a Difference Day
efforts.
61 youth involved in placements within 12 nonprofit agencies performing 2,341 hours of court-ordered community service.
6 graduating seniors received the Michigan Student Service Award gold medallion.
5 Spirit of Volunteerism Awards were presented in the categories of Youth, Adult, Senior, Family,Youth Group.
103 volunteers donated 1,404 hours to help recycle solid waste.
